Oscar Film Unit Gold Anthology is a collection of student films made by the University of Surrey's film society since its formation fifty years ago.
Although an intial version of the Gold Anthology has already been released, we consider it to be a first draft. The project to get a decent digital transfer - and, more generally, to protect the original 16mm films from further decay - is ongoing.
This is a volunteer project with no external budget. If you would like to get involved and help preserve these historic films, please get in touch, we would love to hear from you.
We are keen to hear from former members of the society, particularly ones who were involved in shooting films between 1967 and 1980. We would like to know as much as possible about the contents of the films that we are working to preserve.
We would also like to hear your memories of being a member of the society at any time during its long history. Were you a founder member? Were you Peter The Cow? Can you remember shooting a film involving a car chase - that has, apparently, never been edited together?
If you can help in any way, please get in touch directly or via the Alumni Office at the University of Surrey.
