An independent organisation dedicated to meeting the challenge of creating, promoting and ultimately distributing exciting and innovative audio-visual media on a very limited budget
Xillennia Films is an independent film and television production company which is seeking to become leading experts on the whole film creation process, including writing, production, cinematography, sound and lighting, editing, media mastering, publicity, distribution and exhibition. We also provide a valuable consultancy service for novice amateur / semi-pro filmmakers covering screenplay review and criticism, technical advice and practical assistance where possible.
The primary aim of Xillennia Films is to develop and produce intelligent and innovative films on a very low budget. We achieve this by:
- Careful selection, writing and development of suitable material - ensuring that our ideas are not impractically ambitious;
- Applying our years of experience of working with 8mm, Super-8, 16mm and Digital Video media;
- Honing our skills in disciplines such as lighting and editing so that we do not require expensive specialists in these fields.
Collaboration
Are you an amateur filmmaker? Planning your first film? We can help. We can offer you the benefit of our expertise and experience, equipment loan, or we can simply turn up at your shoot as a few extra pairs of willing hands.
History of Xillennia Films
Xillennia Films was founded in 2001 by former members of Oscar Film Unit at the University of Surrey who wanted to develop the skills learned making such student films as Jaws In The Library, the acclaimed star attraction of the OFU MiniFest 2001, as well as a number of documentary films on 8mm, 16mm and video formats.
Our name
The word "Xillennia" (pronounced zill-ennia) has no dictionary definition. However, we choose it to mean "an unspecified number of millennia" (as "xillion" is to "million"). This reflects our belief that a quality work of art, in any medium, should be timeless and last forever.
Our logo
We introduced our current logo in 2006, to coincide with our first production on High Definition Digital Video. The logo as used on our films comprises an italic letter X in Times New Roman, representing a sunrise over a planet. The word Xillennia appears below in Verdana.
In print and on this website, a photo-negative version of the logo is used.
The original Xillennia logo comprised the word Xillennia in relief against a multi-coloured X shape. This X is a cutout through a full-colour palette. The logo therefore represented our attempts to reach the status of experts in every aspect of the film-making process.
Xillennia.com and Xillennia.co.uk NEVER SEND UNSOLICITED BULK EMAILS
Bulk "spam" emails that appear to have come from one of these domains have been spoofed. We are sorry if you are upset or offended by the content of spam emails that appear to originate from these domains, but please don't write to us to express your venom: we are not at fault, there is nothing we can do about it and in fact it inconveniences us at least as much as it does you, because we're left clearing up literally thousands of "undeliverable mail" receipts.
